Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, May 18: In a special initiative to promote book culture in the state, the Punjab Government has launched the Book Matching Grant Scheme. Sharing details about the initiative, Research Officer Dr. Darshan Kaur stated that under the leadership of the Director, Language Department Punjab, quality books will be provided to all rural libraries as well as government and non-government educational institutions in the district.
The unique feature of this grant is that whichever institution purchases books of a certain value from the Language Department, the department will provide additional books of the exact same value absolutely free under the matching grant.
Explaining the procedure to avail the benefits of this scheme, she mentioned that interested rural libraries can submit an application verified by the village Sarpanch. Educational institutions such as schools, colleges, and other academies can apply on their official letterhead along with the authorized stamp and signature of the institution's head.
For purchasing these books or for any further queries regarding the scheme, applicants can contact the District Language Office located at Room Number 518 (A), 4th Floor, DC Complex, Sector-76, Mohali.
