Jalandhar:- On the occasion of the historic day of 8 April, the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee is organizing a special discussion meeting at exactly 2:30 in Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall on 8 April to highlight the relevance of the ideas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt, and their companions. The President of the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee, Kulwant Singh Sandhu, General Secretary Gurmeet Singh, and Cultural Wing Convener Amolak Singh stated that on this day, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt, on 8 April 1929, carried out a bomb explosion in the Central Assembly Delhi and raised a powerful voice against British rule by throwing handbills, explaining how, in order to tighten the grip of slavery over the Indian people, deprive them of all basic human rights, and brutally suppress the voice of the working class, the teeth of black laws were being sharpened under the names of the Public Safety Bill and the Trade Dispute Bill, against which the masses need to come forward and raise their voice.
Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw handbills in the Assembly with a special purpose, on which it was written, “It takes a loud noise to make the deaf hear.” They immediately courted arrest and chose to effectively use the court as a platform to propagate their ideas. After this, every possible effort was made to prove Bhagat Singh and his companions as terrorists. Bhagat Singh, a symbol of social change, that is, revolution, was confined to being labeled as a terrorist limited to bombs and pistols, and every tactic was used for this purpose, which continues even today in a petty manner.
In the press statement, it has been said that it has become even more necessary in these times to present before the people the ideology of Bhagat Singh and his companions along with their objectives through historical references. Responding to this need of the time, the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee has stated that on 8 April at 2:30 in Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, in the discussion meeting being held, intellectuals, writers, social activists, workers of the revolutionary democratic movement, rationalists, and democratic activists need to participate specially.
