Maur Mandi (Chamkaur Singh Kairve), October 15:- Following the Punjab bandh call given by the family of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota to protest his murder, residents and activists of various organisations staged a sit-in at Ramnagar Chowk in Maur Mandi today. The protesters blocked the Bathinda–Bhawanigarh state highway, raised slogans against the Punjab government and police administration, and demanded justice for Parvinder Singh Jhota’s family.
Former Maur Assembly constituency MLA Jagdev Singh Kamalu joined the protest and demanded justice for the family in the murder case. On the occasion, Resham Singh Yatri accused the Punjab government of failing to fulfil its responsibilities adequately on the issue of drugs. He said people who raise their voices against drugs should receive justice and that the case must be investigated impartially.

Lakha Sidhana of the Waris Punjab organisation also addressed the gathering.
Traffic at Ramnagar Chowk remained affected due to the protest. However, the protesters were allowing ambulances to pass.
