Ludhiana:- In a shocking incident near the Dhollewal area of Ludhiana, a property dealer was allegedly attacked by around eight unidentified persons late Wednesday evening. The assailants reportedly fired five to six rounds at his car. At the time, the victim was returning home after having dinner at a restaurant with his elderly mother and three-and-a-half-year-old son. The attackers not only opened fire but also smashed the vehicle's windows and brutally assaulted the property dealer on the head with sharp-edged weapons and pistol butts.
The injured property dealer has been identified as Jagjit Singh, who sustained serious injuries to his head and face. Despite being covered in blood, he managed to escape from the attackers by driving away with his mother and child and reached the Civil Hospital safely, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Jagjit Singh stated that after having dinner, they had stopped to purchase a bottle of water and make the payment. Suddenly, when he heard gunshots, he noticed his young son running towards the car. As soon as the child got inside the vehicle, the attackers surrounded it and started firing through the window.
According to Jagjit Singh, when he tried to shield his young son from the attack, the assailants pounced on him and attacked him with pistol butts and sharp-edged weapons. The firing shattered the car windows, while bullet marks were also found inside the vehicle. It is reported that an empty .45-bore cartridge case was recovered from beneath the driver's seat.
Immediately after the incident, the victim managed to drive away with his family and save their lives by acting swiftly. Jagjit Singh claimed that he recognised the attackers and alleged that the same individuals had attacked his house and opened fire around a year ago. He suspected that the latest attack was carried out with the intention of killing him due to an old rivalry. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
