Chandigarh, October 15:- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions farmers receiving their crop insurance policies directly in their hands through a transparent process. With this vision, the ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath’ campaign has been launched. The Central and State Governments are conducting a special month-long campaign across India from October 15 to November 15.
Under this campaign, every eligible farmer is being handed over the insurance policy for their crop so that they can know whether their crop is insured, how much premium they have to pay, and how they can receive an insurance claim.
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana attended the state-level ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath’ programme as the chief guest on Thursday at Shahabad in Kurukshetra district. The event was organised by the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
After distributing insurance policies to farmers under the ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath’ campaign, Shyam Singh Rana said that the Central and State Governments were implementing various welfare schemes to provide security to farmers.
He provided detailed information about the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal and said that every farmer should register on the portal so that the benefits of all government schemes could be transferred directly to their bank accounts.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to make India a developed nation by 2047. India will become developed only when its farmers, labourers and traders prosper and every section of society makes progress. Only when all sections of society develop will India be able to become a developed nation by 2047.
During the programme, Shyam Singh Rana also administered an oath to all farmers: “We will neither burn stubble nor allow anyone else to burn it.”
He said that stubble burning is harmful to the environment, soil and human health. The government is providing machinery at subsidised rates to facilitate stubble management. Therefore, farmers should manage stubble properly instead of setting it on fire.
Expressing happiness, he said that not a single incident of stubble burning had been reported in Kurukshetra district so far, reflecting the awareness among farmers.
