Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 28:- MLA Kulwant Singh, while participating as the chief guest in the 9th National Senior Gatka Championship-2025 organized by the Gatka Federation of India at Gurdwara Sri Ratwara Sahib, New Chandigarh (Mohali), said that it is the moral responsibility of all of us to preserve and promote games related to heritage. He said that a heritage game like Gatka can survive only when opportunities are provided to every section of the society to watch, learn and organize it.
He also distributed prizes to the winners of the Gatka Championship dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the 9th Guru Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, in which Gatka players from 20 states of the country participated.
He thanked the organizers and said that such events connect the youth with their culture and heritage. The MLA also congratulated the large number of Gatka lovers who arrived and said that it proves that people are still connected to their heritage.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Aam Aadmi Party government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously taking steps to promote sports and players in Punjab, which has created a conducive environment for sports in the state. He said that the government is also implementing schemes related to health, employment and public welfare at the grassroots level.
On this occasion, Baba Lakhbir Singh (Chairman, Vishwa Gurmat Spiritual Charitable Trust Ratwara Sahib) and Active President, Gatka Federation of India Rajinder Singh Sohal along with office bearers of Gatka Association, players and a large number of sports lovers were present.
