Garhshankar, December 12:- All preparations for the 79th National Football Championship (Santosh Trophy) being organized by the Punjab Football Federation at the Principal Harbhajan Singh Football Stadium located in Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur here have been completed.
Talking about this, Punjab Football Association General Secretary Harjinder Singh, Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh and Sporting Club Secretary Dr. Parampreet Candowal said that it is a matter of pride that the sports grounds of Khalsa College Mahilpur have been selected for the matches and all the necessary arrangements for the championship have been completed for the smooth conduct of the matches.
They said that the opening match of Group-A of the Santosh Trophy being held from December 15 to 19 will be between the teams of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh will attend this match as the chief guest while the function will be presided over by Arjuna Awardee footballer Gurdev Singh Gill.
He said that in the afternoon, the second match of the championship will be played between the teams of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and the Vice Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University Hoshiarpur, Dr. Chandra Mohan, will be the chief guest on this match and the Director of Rayat Bahra University, Kuldeep Singh Rana, will preside over this sports event.
He said that in this championship, teams from Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and other states will compete in Group A of the Senior National Football Championship. On this occasion, Joint Secretary Vijay Bali, Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khera, Director of Doaba School Harjinder Singh Gill, along with members of the Sporting Club, Master Baninder Singh and Dr. JB Sekhon, said that the Santosh Trophy football matches in Mahilpur will be a big attraction for the sports lovers of the area.
