Una, May 7:- Under the Panchayati Raj Institutions General Elections-2026, a total of 1,788 candidates filed their nomination papers across Una district on the first day of the nomination process on Thursday. Among them, nominations were filed by 10 candidates for Zila Parishad seats, 114 for Panchayat Samiti, 388 for Pradhan posts, 366 for Up-Pradhan posts, and 910 for Ward Member positions. This information was shared by District Election Officer (Panchayat) and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal.
He stated that under Una subdivision, 267 candidates filed nominations for various posts. These included 2 candidates for Zila Parishad, 11 for Panchayat Samiti, 62 for Pradhan, 52 for Up-Pradhan, and 140 for Ward Panch positions.
Similarly, in Gagret subdivision, 329 candidates submitted nomination papers, including 4 for Zila Parishad, 17 for Panchayat Samiti, 70 for Pradhan posts, 68 for Up-Pradhan posts, and 170 for Ward Member positions.
In Amb subdivision, a total of 456 candidates filed their nominations. These included 1 candidate for Zila Parishad, 37 for Panchayat Samiti, 91 for Pradhan posts, 105 for Up-Pradhan posts, and 222 for Ward Member seats.
Meanwhile, in Haroli subdivision, 311 candidates filed nomination papers, including 2 for Zila Parishad, 25 for Panchayat Samiti Member posts, 70 for Pradhan, 55 for Up-Pradhan, and 159 for Ward Member positions.
Apart from this, a total of 425 candidates filed nominations in Bangana subdivision. These included 1 candidate for Zila Parishad, 24 for Panchayat Samiti, 95 for Pradhan posts, 86 for Up-Pradhan posts, and 219 for Ward Member positions.
Jatin Lal further informed that nomination papers can also be submitted on May 8 and May 11 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM before the concerned authorities. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 12 from 10:00 AM onwards, while candidates may withdraw their nominations on May 14 and 15. Immediately after the completion of the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates and the final list of contestants will be published.
