Dera Bassi, October 3 (Sanjeev Singh Saini, Mohali):- Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) to regularise the unauthorised excess load of agricultural tubewell consumers. Providing complete information about the scheme, Gursewak Singh Puadhi, Organisation In-charge of Dera Bassi Assembly Constituency and Chairman, Market Committee Lalru, appealed to farmers to avail themselves of this facility within the stipulated period.
He said that the scheme will remain in force for 45 days from October 1, 2026. Under the scheme, a facility has been provided to regularise the unauthorised excess load of agricultural tubewell connections that existed up to May 29, 2026.
Under the VDS, the service connection charge for regularising excess load has been fixed at ₹2,500 per BHP, while security (consumption) has been fixed at ₹200 per BHP. In addition, during the scheme period, no penalty/load surcharge will be imposed on unauthorised excess load disclosed voluntarily by the consumer or detected during inspection.
He said that farmers can also regularise their excess load through Self-Declaration. If regularising the excess load of any tubewell requires enhancement of the capacity of the service line, cable or transformer, the work will be carried out by PSPCL at its own expense in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Gursewak Singh Puadhi appealed to farmers whose tubewell load exceeds the sanctioned load to obtain complete information from their nearest PSPCL office and complete the necessary formalities within the 45-day period. He said that it is important to ensure that farmers receive accurate information about such important departmental facilities and regulations so that they can avail themselves of the benefits in time.
