Una, July 23: Som Lal Dhiman, Deputy Director of Elementary Education, Una, has directed all private schools in the district to ensure that only textbooks prescribed by NCERT or SCERT are used for students. He stated that these instructions have been issued in compliance with orders received from the Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh.
Shri Dhiman stated that all private schools in the district—whether affiliated with the CBSE or the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education—cannot make books from private publishers mandatory for students. It is mandatory for all schools to implement only those textbooks prescribed by the respective board and NCERT/SCERT.
The Deputy Director has instructed the managements and principals of all private schools to ensure the use of only authorized textbooks in accordance with the prescribed curriculum, so that students receive equitable and quality education and parents are not burdened with unnecessary financial costs.
He added that if, during inspections, any school is found to be mandating books from publishers other than those prescribed, or if a complaint regarding this matter is received, action will be taken against the concerned school in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009, and the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation) Act, 1997, along with the Rules of 2003.
