Una, December 29: Deputy Commissioner Una, Jatin Lal, has issued orders declaring no parking and no vending zones on both sides of major road stretches, including the Amb market and bus stand, in the main market area of ??Amb sub-division, with the aim of strengthening, securing, and streamlining the traffic system. These orders have been issued under Sections 115 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and will come into effect immediately and remain in force until further orders.
According to the orders, an area of ??approximately 500 meters on the Mubarakpur-Una road in Amb, from Maharana Pratap Degree College Amb to Mango Hotel, has been declared a no parking and no vending zone on both sides of the road.
However, buses will be allowed to stop at two designated bus stops for passengers to board and alight. This includes one bus at a time near the bus shelter for buses going towards Una, and a maximum of three buses at a time near Gautam Medical Store opposite the bus stand for buses going towards Mubarakpur, for the purpose of picking up and dropping off passengers.
Similarly, an area of ??approximately 300 meters on the Amb-Hamirpur road, from Amb Chowk to Amb Police Station, has been declared a no parking and no vending zone. On this route, only one bus at a time will be allowed to stop near Ganpati Jewelers for passengers to board and alight for buses going towards Nadaun.
In addition, an area of ??approximately 60 meters on the Amb Chowk to Athwan road, from Amb Chowk to near Shri Ravidas Temple, has also been declared a no parking and no vending zone.
The Deputy Commissioner said that no type of vehicle parking, street vending, or temporary vending activities will be allowed in these areas.
The Deputy Commissioner said that strict action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and other relevant laws against those who violate these orders. He stated that instructions have also been issued to the local police and transport department for the effective and strict implementation of the orders.
The Deputy Commissioner explained that illegal parking and unauthorized vending activities on the roads were obstructing the free flow of traffic, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and increasing road safety risks. This decision has been taken keeping these circumstances in mind, to ensure smooth movement of traffic, public convenience, and traffic discipline in the area.
It is worth noting that the district administration had previously implemented a well-organized traffic and parking system in the main market areas of Una city and all sub-divisions of the district, to provide better facilities to the general public, prevent chaos in the markets, provide safe and easy access for pedestrians, and ensure systematic traffic management.
