Sangrur, September 7:- Under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, and under the patronage of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat will be organized on September 12, 2026, at the District Court Complex, Sangrur, and the Sub-Divisional Court Complexes at Dhuri, Sunam and Moonak.
Giving information in this regard, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Sangrur, Shri Ashish Thathai, Civil Judge (Senior Division)/Chief Judicial Magistrate, said that during the National Lok Adalat, pending criminal compoundable cases, bank recovery cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, matrimonial matters, labour disputes, land-related matters, pay allowance and revenue-related matters, among others, will be taken up for settlement in the courts. In addition, bank recovery, labour disputes and other eligible pre-litigation matters will also be considered.
Shri Thathai said that persons who wish to get their cases pending in court settled through the Lok Adalat can submit an application in the concerned court where their case is being heard. Similarly, for settlement of new eligible matters at the pre-litigation stage, the concerned Legal Services Authority or Committee office can be contacted.
He said that the Lok Adalat is an effective forum for resolving disputes through mutual consent and providing the parties relief from lengthy legal proceedings. It saves time and money and provides a permanent solution to disputes between the parties. An award passed by the Lok Adalat is treated as a decree of a civil court and no appeal lies against it.
The Secretary appealed to the people to make maximum use of the National Lok Adalat on September 12 and come forward to settle eligible matters through mutual consent.
