Jalandhar: A large crowd of devotees gathered at Jalandhar City Railway Station today as Sant Niranjan Das, head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, departed for Govardhan Temple in Varanasi with thousands of his followers on a special train. Devotees from across Punjab participated in this religious journey.
The special train was flagged off by Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal from Hoshiarpur. Also present on the occasion were Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA from Dirba, Lal Chand Kataruchak, MLA from Bhoa, and Dr. Ishank Kumar, MLA from Chabbewal. All the leaders extended their best wishes to Sant Niranjan Das and his followers, wishing them a peaceful spiritual journey. Dr. Chabbewal appreciated the efforts of Dera Sachkhand Ballan in promoting spiritual values, social harmony, and community service, and praised the devotion and enthusiasm of the devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that the Punjab government is celebrating the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas at the state level, and the year-long state-level celebrations for the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas will commence on February 6th from Khuralgarh Sahib.
He also informed that the foundation stone for a bridge costing ?3.7 crore has been laid in Khuralgarh, and construction work has begun. He added that the Minar-e-Begumpura will also be dedicated to the devotees during these state-level celebrations. He said that these efforts will further strengthen religious faith, communal harmony, and the spiritual heritage of Punjab.
A devotional atmosphere prevailed at the railway station, where the devotees offered prayers and the train departed amidst a shower of flowers. Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal also thanked the railway administration and the district administration for making all the necessary arrangements for the smooth and safe journey of the devotees.
