Hoshiarpur- District Magistrate Ashika Jain, in exercise of powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, has issued orders that movement of tippers/trucks carrying mining material on Jejon to Mahilpur Road and Nangal to Garhshankar Road in village Hoshiarpur district will be allowed only from 7 pm to 7 am and movement of tippers/trucks carrying mining material on these roads will be restricted beyond this time.
The District Magistrate said that it has come to the notice of the district administration that due to tippers/trucks carrying mining material on Mahilpur Road and Nangal to Garhshankar Road in Hoshiarpur district, many accidents are happening on the roads due to which the general public is suffering loss of life and property. Keeping in mind the public interest, there is a need to run the movement of tippers/trucks carrying mining material on these roads in a time-bound manner.
He said that the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Garhshankar will ensure that the traffic police has checked the overspeed of the tippers/trucks. The Regional Transport Authority, Hoshiarpur will ensure checking and necessary action regarding overloading and violation of other rules in the light of these orders.
The Executive Engineer, Drainage-cum-District Mining Officer, Hoshiarpur will ensure 24X7 surveillance at the inter-state check posts and along with this, the overloaded tippers will be checked and action taken against them using weighing scales at the check posts. These orders will remain in force till 20th May 2026.
