Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 6: Senior Superintendent of Police, District SAS Nagar, Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, while giving information to the press today, said that as per the directions of Mr. Gaurav Yadav IPS, Director General of Police, Punjab and Mr. Nanak Singh IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ropar Roj, Ropar, Mohali Police has rescued Gurpyar Singh, journalist, Hamdard Channel from his office in Nayangaon by 03 unknown accused, who were in Nihang attire, within 12 hours of the incident.
While giving information to the media here today, he has rescued 01 accused. It was further informed that as soon as the information about the kidnapping was received and keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case, police teams were formed and tracing the case, and the kidnapped Gurpyar Singh was safely released from the possession of the accused and 01 accused was arrested.
The SSP further informed that on 04-11-2025, on the basis of the statements of Manpreet Kaur, daughter of Gursewak Singh, resident of Makrour Sahib, Police Station Moonak, District Sangrur, a case No. 122 dated 04-11-2025 under Section 140(3) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Police Station Nayagaon against 03 unknown accused that her brother Gurpyar Singh works as a news anchor and producer at Hamdard Media TV News Channel, House No. 34D, Shivalik Vihar.
About 02 years ago, they had purchased 28 kanals 5 marla land from village Dhamdhan Sahib at the behest of Ravi Saroop. For which we had to pay the balance of 12 lakh rupees. At the behest of Ravi Saroop, the said amount was paid to the dealers Devraj, Madan Singh and Bhola Singh. But the said dealers refused to pay this amount to Ravi Saroop. Regarding which we had registered an application at the Moonak police station.
Still, since we did not expect to get the money, at the behest of my mother Jasvir Kaur, we took the help of Hardeep Singh Akali, Jassa Singh and another unknown person. Who had come to our village and made the said dealers resign. The said Nihangs started demanding money from us in return for the said resignation.
On 04-11-2025, he had come to his brother, so it would have been around 05:10 pm when his brother Gurpyar Singh was called out of his office and forcibly abducted by 03 unknown persons, who were in Nihang attire, in a car branded Ritz.
As it was a serious crime, in order to arrest the accused in the said case and to release the kidnapped Gurpyar Singh, as per the instructions of Mr. Gaurav Yadav IPS Director General of Police, Punjab, teams of Mr. Dilpreet Singh, IPS Captain of Police, Mohali, Mr. Sarv Jindal PPS Captain of Police (Investigation), Mr. Prithvi Singh Chahal PPS, Deputy Captain of Police City-1 Mohali and Mr. Rajan Parminder PPS Deputy Captain of Police (Investigation) were formed under the supervision of Inspector Harminder Singh Incharge CIA Staff and Inspector Satnam Singh Chief Officer, Police Station Nayangaon.
These teams, with the help of AGTF, Faridkot, Bathinda and Chandigarh Police, searched with the help of technical and human resources, rescued the kidnapped Gurpyar Singh from the accused within 12 hours and arrested 01 native. Continuous raids are being conducted on the other accused. They will also be arrested soon.

1. Balkaran Jeet Singh son of Avtar Singh resident of village Rekhe Kalan, tehsil and district Bathinda, aged about 45 years, who has passed 10th class and is unmarried. The accused was arrested from Kotkapura.
2. Hardeep Singh (arrest pending).
3. Jaskaran Singh (arrest pending).
Details of the interrogation of the arrested accused:-
On interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that the accused had a property dispute with the property dealers regarding money. In return, the accused demanded money to get his resignation. But since the cheque for the resignation made by the accused did not clear, Gurpyar and his family did not give any money to the accused. Due to which they carried out the above incident.
