Chandigarh, June 4:- Haryana Minister of State for Sports Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that Haryana's aim is to win 36 medals in Olympics 2036. Our young players are working tirelessly for these medals. Newly appointed coaches can also play an important role in fulfilling this mission. Coaches should be fully engaged in preparing players for the Olympics from the grassroots level.
The Minister was addressing the state's best and brightest players as the chief guest today at the felicitation ceremony held at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh while handing over appointment letters of government coaches of Group (K), (Kh) and (G). Congratulating the players, their parents and coaches, the Sports Minister called it a celebration of the victory of the sweat, penance and sacrifice of the youth and the parents. During this, the Minister handed over appointment letters to 3 senior and 20 junior coaches.
The Sports Department had also handed over appointment letters to 10 coaches last month. In a month, the department has given coaching jobs to 33 players. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini, the government is working day and night to make the state the most modern and convenient state in the world in the field of sports. He said that under the sports policy, the state government gives 10 percent sports quota in Group D jobs and 3 percent in Group C jobs to the best players.
'Eating milk and curd' is not just a saying, it is our strength
The Minister of State for Sports said that the soil of Haryana has such an effect that the youth of this place comes out on the field not only to play, but to enhance the glory of the tricolor. From Olympics to National Championships, our players have always brought glory to the state. Praising the government's sports policy, he said, "Our 'Medal Liayo, Dhadap Pao' (Prize Medal, Post) policy aims to keep the players free from future worries. The government not only congratulates the players on winning medals, but also guarantees their secure future, so that they can play for the country without any mental stress."
Invitation to coaches: Carve new global champions from the grassroots level
The Sports Minister said that coaches play a key role in shaping players into diamonds. Emphasizing the importance of changing technology and modern training, he appealed to the coaches to work double-time in identifying new sports talents at the grassroots level from villages and towns, preparing players for Commonwealth, Asian, World Championships and international competitions. For this, the state government is fully committed to providing every modern facility, infrastructure and resources.
Players to become role models in government services too
Describing government job as a new innings of life, Mr. Gaurav Gautam expressed hope that the players will maintain the discipline and dedication like that of the playground in administrative services as well. He said that the players are now 'role models' of lakhs of youth of Haryana, seeing whom the children of villages will be attracted towards the playground.
He taught the players to always maintain humility amidst success. The Minister of State for Sports, while reiterating the resolution of modernizing the sports nurseries and stadiums of the state, called upon everyone to contribute in building a healthy, prosperous and 'number one' sports state of Haryana.
Principal Secretary of Haryana Sports Department Mr. Vijay Singh Dahiya, Additional Director Mr. Ashwani Malik and other officers were present on the occasion.
