Miami/America, September 8:- An Amazon cargo aircraft crossed the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday. It then collided with several vehicles and caught fire. At least five people were killed in the accident.
Miami-Dade County officials said at a press conference that the aircraft, arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, landed at the airport at around 2:00 p.m. After landing, the aircraft crossed the runway and collided with vehicles. According to officials, three people were seriously injured in the accident, while two others suffered less serious injuries; all were hospitalized. However, officials have not yet clarified whether the deceased were on board the aircraft or inside the vehicles with which it collided.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Ray Jadallah said dense black smoke filled the sky following the crash. The pilot and co-pilot were trapped in the cockpit, while others were trapped inside cars; one person was trapped underneath a vehicle. The incident caused flights to be halted at Miami’s busy airport during the afternoon. Jadallah noted that fuel was still leaking from the aircraft hours after the crash, and firefighters were working to bring the situation under control. The flight was operated by 21 Air, a cargo airline based in North Carolina. According to the flight-tracking website Flightradar24, the 32-year-old Boeing 767 aircraft was originally built to carry passengers. It flew for various airlines for more than two decades before being converted into a cargo aircraft in 2015. The National Transportation Safety Board announced that it was sending a team to Miami to investigate the crash. The team will be led by Board Chair Jennifer Homendy. Amazon said it was prepared to cooperate with any investigation. Expressing grief over the deaths of five people in the accident, the company extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and those affected by the incident.
