Una, June 12: As part of a state-wide mega mock exercise, relief and rescue drills will be conducted at five locations in Una district on June 15. During the exercise, the rapid response, coordination, and resource availability of various departments will be tested against simulated disaster scenarios such as earthquakes, landslides, fires, and building collapses.
Senior officials from the State Disaster Management Authority held a meeting via video conferencing on Friday to review preparations for the mega mock exercise. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar represented the Una district administration, participating alongside officials from various departments.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that distinct disaster scenarios have been designated for all five subdivisions of the district. Based on these scenarios, relief and rescue drills will be conducted to assess the preparedness and capacity of the disaster management system.
The meeting reviewed preparations regarding weather forecasting, early warning systems, satellite-based weather monitoring, communication and coordination mechanisms during disasters, road maintenance, traffic management, and fire incident response. Officials were also instructed to identify high-risk areas, raise public awareness, and further strengthen preparedness measures.

**Locations for the Exercise**
Under the mega mock exercise, relief and rescue drills will be conducted based on the following simulated scenarios: a fire at the Indian Oil Bottling Plant in Mehatpur (Una subdivision); a forest fire in the Tutdu area (Bangana subdivision); a landslide near Pindi Das Ashram and the Eye Hospital (Amb subdivision); a fire at Pindi Filling Station (Gagret subdivision); and a building collapse at Nyasa Multiplast in Bela Bathri (Haroli subdivision). Officials from various departments attended the meeting, including Una Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prithipal Singh, Amb SDM Paras Agarwal, Una Tehsildar Vipan Thakur, Medical Officer Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, PWD Executive Engineer Kuldeep Singh, and Bangana Range Officer Ankush Anand.
