Chandigarh (Harminder Nagpal):- Krista Pike was sentenced to death in the US state of Tennessee for a murder committed in 1995. She was only 18 years old at the time of the crime. She has spent more than 31 years in prison.
On September 30, 2026, two injections of a lethal drug were administered to carry out her execution. Despite this, she survived and regained consciousness after receiving treatment in hospital. From a spiritual perspective, the incident naturally brings to mind the saying, “Whom God protects, no one can harm.” Perhaps God wishes to give her another chance at life.
Her crime was extremely serious and reprehensible. The suffering of the victim, Colleen Slemmer, and her family cannot be forgotten.
Nevertheless, after spending more than 31 years in prison for a crime committed at the age of 18, and having now endured this horrifying execution procedure, she should be allowed to spend the rest of her life in prison rather than be subjected to another execution attempt.
As a citizen of India, I humbly appeal to the Hon’ble Governor of Tennessee and the concerned US authorities to commute Krista Pike’s death sentence to life imprisonment.
Justice must prevail, but there should also be room for mercy.
I respectfully request the US Embassy in India to convey this humanitarian appeal to the relevant American authorities. I also appeal to everyone who reads this message to share it further.
