Nawanshahr:- The torch march regarding 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2026' being organized by the Punjab Government to further strengthen sports culture in the state and connect youth with sports will reach District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar on 20 August. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh while presiding over a meeting of officials of concerned departments regarding arrival of torch of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan and various events to be held at block level.
Deputy Commissioner told that this torch will reach District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar after passing through various districts. He told that night halt of this torch will also be done at SBS Nagar itself. The torch will depart from here for District Jalandhar on date 21-08-2026. He assigned duty of various departments' officials and gave them instructions to make suitable arrangements.
During meeting Deputy Commissioner directed Education Department to get maximum registration of children on online portal and ensure maximum participation of students in sports.
Deputy Commissioner said that during events full care of children's health should also be taken and full care of children's refreshment should also be taken. He told officials of Health Department that arrangement of an ambulance should also be made along with torch. Along with this complete arrangements of drinking water and security should be made.
Besides this instructions were issued to Police Department to ensure strong and necessary arrangements of security during arrival of torch and function.
During meeting discussion was also held regarding organizing 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' in a well-organized and grand manner as per instructions of Punjab Government.
On this occasion Assistant Commissioner General Ramanjit, District Sports Officer Vandana Chauhan and officials of various departments were present.
