Karnal, October 10:- The two-day 47th Annual Sports Meet at Pandit Chiranji Lal Sharma Government College concluded on a high note, with students participating enthusiastically. Kamaldeep among the boys and NCC Air Wing Cadet Vasundhara among the girls won the Best Athlete titles.
On the second day of the event, national and international volleyball coach Naresh Kumar attended as the chief guest, while Tanvi Kalra was the guest of honour. They planted saplings on the college campus. Principal Dr. Anil Garg, along with Physical Education Department in-charge Dr. Vinod Chahal and Dr. Yashpal, welcomed the chief guest by presenting him with a cap.
Addressing the students, the chief guest said that sports competitions play an important role in students’ physical and mental development. These competitions provide students with opportunities to showcase their talent and progress. They also help develop self-confidence, mutual brotherhood and teamwork. Sports contribute to building a healthy society and a strong nation.
Principal Dr. Anil Garg said that sports are very important in life and all students should participate enthusiastically in such competitions. The college organises sports competitions every year to provide students with a platform. Sports contribute to the overall development of students.
The chief guest presented awards to all the winning athletes and wished the other participants a bright future. Dr. Rakesh Yadav, a faculty member of the college’s History Department, gave the Best Athlete winners a cash prize of Rs. 5,100 each. Guest of honour Tanvi Kalra also presented Rs. 5,100 each to the Best Athlete winners and Rs. 2,500 each to the runners-up.
The results of the annual sports meet were as follows: In the boys’ 100-metre race, Kamaldeep secured first place, Arun second and Deep Chand third. In the girls’ 100-metre race, Vasundhara secured first place, Muskan second and Preeti third. In the boys’ high jump, Arun secured first place, Harshit second and Jatin third. In the girls’ high jump, Muskan secured first place, while Vasundhara secured third place. Teaching and non-teaching staff members, along with hundreds of students, were present at the event.
