Jammu:- 50 MBBS students of Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College have got a big relief. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination has announced that the re-counselling of these students will be done on January 24th. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the government has resolved the issue related to medical college allotment. According to the post on the social media of the Chief Minister's Office, now the students will be able to continue their studies without any hindrance.
According to the BOPEE notification, these 50 additional seats will be distributed among seven government medical colleges of Jammu and Kashmir as per the NEET-UG merit and the choice of the students. 8 seats will be given in GMC Anantnag, while 7 seats each will be given in Baramulla, Doda, Handwara, Kathua, Rajouri and Udhampur.
Counselling will be held at BOPEE offices in Jammu and Srinagar. Candidates who are unable to attend in person can send their relative with an authorization letter. It is noteworthy that the National Medical Commission had withdrawn the approval of this college due to non-compliance of minimum standards. The government had already made it clear that the education of 50 students will not be affected at any cost.
