Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 25th August:- District Magistrate Mrs. Komal Mittal, exercising the powers conferred under Chapter 11 (under Section 163) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (46 of 2023), has issued an order that any person residing within the jurisdiction of Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Village Panchayats located within the limits of District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, when keeping a tenant/servant/paying guest in his house, shall ensure to give his complete details to the nearest police station within a week. This order shall also be applicable to those who have not yet given the details of the already kept tenants, servants and paying guests to the police till now.
It has been stated in these prohibitory orders that a large number of people come to the district from other states and outside districts for jobs/work etc. Apart from this, students/trainees from other states for studying in other educational institutions/organizations, persons related to various professions/businesses as paying guests and employees serving in call centres are also living on rent. Many of these persons are of drug, anti-social and criminal background and create ruckus at rented places and public places.
The information of these tenants is not got registered with the police by the landlords, due to which there remains apprehension of breach of peace and law and order situation. These orders shall remain in force from 19.08.2026 to 18.10.2026.
