Shoppers thronged shops selling puja items, karva, sarees, jewelry, and henna. Women remained busy preparing throughout the day, and by evening, the glow of Karva Chauth was visible everywhere.
Long queues of women were seen at henna shops. It seemed as if everyone was competing to have the most beautiful henna for their husbands. Women trained by Seva Bharti set up stalls at various locations and applied henna. The city's main markets—Market, Karna Gate, and surrounding areas—were thronged with women.
Along with the purchase of Karwa and Kusha, designer Karwa also gained a special place in the market. Along with the traditional Karwa, simple and designer Karwa were in high demand. Women were also seen shopping extensively at clothing and jewelry stores.
Women were particularly enthusiastic about Karwa Chauth. This is a festival in which women observe a fast for the long life and happiness of their husbands. Since Karwa Chauth falls on a Sunday this year, the day is considered especially auspicious.
