Una, July 8:- Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Una, Shikha Lakhanpal, said that the last date for submitting online applications to resolve pending cases in the Supreme Court through mutual settlement and mediation has been extended to July 31. She said that the initiative is an important step towards providing speedy, simple and easily accessible justice to the public.
She informed that the Samadhan Ceremony-2026 at the Supreme Court premises commenced on April 21. Under this initiative, Special Lok Adalats will be organised at the Supreme Court premises on August 21, 22 and 23, where pending cases will be resolved through mutual consent and mediation.
Shikha Lakhanpal said that for the convenience of litigants, a simple Google Form has been made available on the official website of the Supreme Court. She urged all eligible parties to submit their online applications by July 31 and avail themselves of this opportunity by getting their cases included in the Special Lok Adalats.
**Free Legal Aid for Persons with Mental Disabilities
The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority said that the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is providing free legal aid to persons suffering from mental illness and intellectual disabilities. She said that such individuals or their family members can avail themselves of this facility by contacting NALSA's toll-free helpline number 15100.
She further informed that eligible persons may also obtain free legal assistance by submitting applications to the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, the District Legal Services Authority, or the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority. In addition, an online application facility is available through the Legal Aid Portal of the State Legal Services Authority.
Shikha Lakhanpal said that special awareness camps are also being organised in different areas to protect the rights of persons with mental disabilities and connect them with legal assistance. She appealed to eligible individuals and their families to make maximum use of these facilities.
