Nawanshahr:- District Election Officer Mr. Gulpreet Singh Aulakh stated that during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in District S.B.S. Nagar, it will be mandatory for all voters to fill out the enumeration form. The names of those voters who do not fill out the enumeration form will not be included in the draft electoral roll.
Sharing information regarding this, he stated that during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), from 25 June 2026 to 24 July 2026 across Punjab and in this district of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, BLOs will go door-to-door to get the forms filled by the voters. For this task, the entire election staff has been deployed, including 615 BLOs, 62 Supervisors, 03 Electoral Registration Officers, and 6 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
He informed that the work regarding imparting training to BLOs for SIR and other preparatory arrangements will be conducted from 15 June 2026 to 24 June 2026. He said that our objective is to include every eligible citizen in the electoral roll and to remove ineligible voters from the electoral roll. The District Election Officer stated that holding a dual vote is an offense under the Indian Constitution, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for up to one year.
He explained that for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, mapping/matching of the names of the existing electoral roll of 2025 with the electoral roll of 2003 is to be carried out. Along with this, providing further information about SIR, he said that the work of rationalization of polling stations will be completed by 24 July 2026. The draft of the electoral roll will be published on 31 July 2026. Claims and objections regarding the electoral rolls can be submitted from 31 July 2026 to 30 August 2026. The disposal of claims and objections will be completed by 28 September 2026.
The District Election Officer informed that the final publication of the electoral roll will be done on 01 October 2026. During the pre-mapping in the district, the matching of the voters of the year 2003 with the voters of the electoral roll of 2025 has been completed by approximately 89 percent.
