Chennai:- India came back strongly from a 2-0 deficit in a thrilling encounter to win the bronze medal by defeating Argentina 4-2 in the FIH Men's Junior World Cup here on Wednesday.
India, who had won the title in Lucknow in 2016, had failed to make it to the podium on the last two occasions. India finished fourth in Bhubaneswar in 2021 and two years later in Kuala Lumpur. For India, Ankit Pal (49th minute), Manmeet Singh (52nd minute) and Anmol Eka (58th minute) converted penalty corners to give the team a strong comeback.
Sharda Nand Tiwari scored the fourth goal for the team in the 57th minute. Argentina showed great play in the first two quarters when Nicolas Rodriguez (3rd minute) and Santiago Fernandez (44th minute) scored.
