Ferozepur, August 29:- Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur Sardar Jagjit Singh Dallewal faction staged a protest at Land Mortgage Bank near Gurdwara Pargat Sahib on Ferozepur-Fazilka Road demanding implementation of OTS (One Time Settlement Scheme) and return of blank cheques taken from farmers while taking loans. In this protest of the farmers' organization, anger was expressed against the government and the concerned bank managers regarding their demands.
During the protest, the farmers prominently raised their demands related to Land Mortgage Bank. The farmer leaders said that to provide relief to the farmers struggling with financial problems and debt burden, the plan of implementing OTS scheme in the bank and taking blank cheques or land registry only by the bank while giving loans was promised by Punjab Government Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, which is not being implemented.
They say that with the one-time settlement facility, such farmers can be in a position to settle their outstanding loans. Along with this, the blank cheques taken from the farmers as security should also be returned, so that they do not have to face any kind of problem in the future.
The farmer leaders said that the organization has been demanding attention to their demands for a long time and the concerned authorities should take a decision in this matter soon. They demanded that the benefit of the OTS scheme be made available keeping in mind the economic condition of the farmers and the blank cheques deposited in the bank should be returned to the farmers. The leaders made it clear that if positive action is not taken on their demands, the organization will continue its struggle.
