Hoshiarpur: On the fourth day of the week-long *Srimad Bhagavat Katha Gyan Yajna* (spiritual discourse series)—organized by the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan and held at Roshan Ground, Hoshiarpur, from April 14 to April 20 (7:00 PM to 10:00 PM)—Sadhvi Ms. Vaishnavi Bharti, a world-renowned *Bhagavat Bhaskar* (exponent of the Bhagavat) and a disciple of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, delivered a discourse on the episode of *Samudra Manthan* (the Churning of the Ocean). This churning was undertaken jointly by the Devas (gods) and the Daityas (demons). As foretold by Lord Vishnu, the ocean was destined to yield a multitude of treasures—among which was *Amrit* (the nectar of immortality), the consumption of which grants eternal life.
Emerging from the depths of the ocean as the very first treasure was a deadly poison, which began to spread rapidly in all directions. The Devas prayed fervently to the "God of Gods," Mahadev (Lord Shiva). For the welfare of all creation, the benevolent Lord Shiva (*Bholenath*) consumed the poison, yet he arrested its descent right at his throat. It is for this reason that he acquired the name *Neelkanth* (The Blue-Throated One). Through this act, the Lord imparted a profound lesson to us: even if you are subjected to the world's bitter, venomous words, do not allow them to penetrate your heart; instead, arrest them right at your throat. By adhering to this principle, one can lead a truly happy life. Subsequently, Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the ocean and accepted Shri Narayan as her divine consort.
This episode teaches us a valuable lesson: strive to attain Narayan, and Lakshmi herself will follow you. The churning yielded various treasures—including a celestial horse, the *Parijat* tree, *Apsaras* (celestial nymphs), the *Kamadhenu* cow, a divine chariot, a quiver, arrows, and the *Amrit*—all of which were subsequently distributed between the Devas and the Danavas (demons). Sadhvi Ji also expounded upon the concept of the Lord's *Avatarvad* (incarnations), explaining that Lord Balarama descends to Earth prior to the Lord's arrival to assist Him in the unfolding of His divine *Lilas* (cosmic plays). Our scriptures depict Lord Balarama holding a plough in his hand.
He is also revered as the deity of farmers. Through his symbolism, he inspires us to embrace organic farming—a practice that is immensely beneficial for both the environment and human health. This method involves no use of chemical pesticides; instead, natural fertilizer is prepared using cow dung and cow urine. This fertilizer can be produced at a low cost and also serves to increase a farmer's income. Subsequently, he explained that the Lord incarnates in every era to uphold righteousness. He descends in each age to ensure the welfare of His devotees and to vanquish the wicked.
In the Dvapara Yuga, the Lord descended to Earth to put an end to the atrocities committed by Kansa. He transformed the lives of the residents of Gokul into a perpetual celebration. Through the narrative, the audience caught a glimpse of the *Nand Mahotsav* (the festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna). Together, the Sadhvis and Swamis sang songs of jubilation to express their delight at the Lord's arrival. Today, everyone present had the privilege of witnessing the festive spirit of Gokul.
The proceedings commenced with the *Bhagavat Pujan* (worship of the sacred scripture), performed by the principal hosts—Manish Gupta (Billa Bricks), Kusha Gupta, and Rahul Gupta—along with the daily hosts: Gaurav Gupta, Riti Gupta, Praveen Pabbi, Babli Pabbi, Mayank Sood, Anu Sood, Manoj Kapoor (Triple M), Rajiv Mahajan, Monika Mahajan, Satish Gupta, Dinesh Kaushal, Yogesh Chandra, Heena, Deepak Mehndiratta, and Alka Ji, accompanied by their respective families. Prominent among those present at the Katha were Jaspal Singh Chaichi (District President of the Aam Aadmi Party, Chairman of the Market Committee, and Member of the Cow Commission), Sandeep Saini (State Joint Secretary and Chairman of the Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation), Ajay Verma (President of the Swarn Sangh), Parminder (Passport Officer), Harish Anand, Harish Jerath, Rajiv Singla, Sanjeev Singla, Dinesh Kaushal, Ankit, Councilor Vijay Kumar Agarwal, Jagdish Agarwal, Ajit JTO, Gurjinder Kaur, Harjot Kaur, Rakesh Bhardwaj, Ramesh (R.K.
