Una, October 27:- Employees in Una have welcomed Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's decision to grant male employees a holiday on Karwa Chauth. They said the decision would give male employees living away from home for work an opportunity to celebrate Karwa Chauth with their families and participate in rituals associated with the fast. They expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the decision.

Employees said that earlier, women employees were granted holidays on festivals such as Karwa Chauth and Raksha Bandhan, while male employees often missed the opportunity to celebrate these occasions with their families because they did not have leave. They said Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had taken this initiative for the first time by granting leave to male employees on these occasions, allowing all family members to celebrate festivals together. While expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, employees also welcomed the decision to provide a five per cent dearness allowance increase before Diwali.

Surender Mohan, Vice Principal of Government Senior Secondary School-2, Una, said that granting male employees leave on Karwa Chauth would give them an opportunity to spend time with their families. Earlier, when their wives needed to go shopping, the absence of their husbands often caused difficulties. Now, couples would be able to shop together and help each other with festival preparations. He said husbands and wives would also be able to be together during the rituals of sighting the moon and breaking the fast. Employees living away from home for work would now be able to participate in these family traditions and celebrate Karwa Chauth with their loved ones. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the decision.

Shabnam, who works as an LSEO in the Amb Development Block, said women employees were granted leave on Karwa Chauth, but the lack of leave for their husbands often prevented families from celebrating the festival together. Granting leave to male employees would give families an opportunity to celebrate together. She said the Chief Minister had also granted leave to male employees on Raksha Bandhan, enabling brothers and sisters to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm. She expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for granting leave on Karwa Chauth and Raksha Bandhan and for announcing a five per cent dearness allowance increase before Diwali.
