New Delhi:- The Enforcement Directorate on Friday attached property worth around Rs 140 crore of Haryana-based Al Fallah University. This action has been taken in connection with the investigation that began after the blast in Delhi's Red Fort area on November 10.
The ED has attached 54 acres of land, buildings and hostels of the university located in Dhauj area of ??Faridabad under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Along with this, a chargesheet has also been filed in the court against Al Fallah Group Chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui and his trust. Siddiqui has already been arrested on charges of cheating students.
The investigating agency claims that under Siddiqui's direction, the university and the trust collected around Rs 415.10 crore from students and parents by falsely claiming to be affiliated, which the ED has termed as 'proceeds of crime'.
The university's name came into the limelight when the name of a doctor from here, Umar-un-Nabi, came up during the National Investigation Agency's investigation into a terror module. It is alleged that the same doctor was involved in the suicide car blast outside the Red Fort on November 10.
However, the agency has assured that despite the attachment of the property, the education of the students will not be affected and a government receiver may be appointed for the administration.
