Sangrur:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal, IPS, SSP Sangrur, while briefing the press, stated that acting on the campaign launched by the Sangrur District Police against anti-social elements, the double murder of two youths in the area of City Police Station Dhuri was traced within 24 hours. Six accused have been arrested, and two motorcycles used during the commission of the crime have been recovered from them.
Dr. Ravjot Grewal, IPS, further informed that on 07.07.2026, on Kakarwal Road in front of Nath's barber shop, Labhu son of Ashok Kumar, Sawan son of Ashok Kumar, Prince son of Vicky, Karan Ratol son of unknown, Neeraj alias Sandy son of Jagdish Kumar (residents of Polo Basti, Dhuri), Vicky son of Ram Nath, Rinku son of Raj Kumar, Mogli daughter of Raj Kumar (residents of Polo Basti, Dhuri), and 7/8 unknown individuals attacked Dev Kumar alias Debu and Anil alias Babba with deadly weapons and murdered them. Consequently, case FIR No. 125, dated 07.07.2026, under sections 103, 351(2), 206, 190, 191(3), and 61(2) of the BNS was registered at City Police Station Dhuri, and an investigation was initiated.
To arrest the accused, teams led by Mr. Davinder Attri, SP (Investigation) Sangrur, and supervised by Mr. Sukhdev Singh, DSP (Detective) Sangrur, and Mr. Gurpreet Singh, DSP Sub-division Dhuri, were formed. These teams, comprising Inspector Sandeep Singh, In-charge CIA Sangrur, and Inspector Jasveer Singh, SHO City Dhuri, conducted a technical investigation. During the investigation, on 08.07.2026, the following six accused were arrested: 1. Labhu son of Ashok Kumar, 2. Sawan son of Ashok Kumar, 3. Prince son of Vicky (all residents of Dashmesh Nagar, Dhuri), 4. Karan Ratol son of Harinder Singh (resident of Kaheru Road, Dhuri), 5. Raman son of Vicky (resident of Polo Basti, Dhuri), and 6. Pawan son of Harinder Singh (resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Dhuri). Two motorcycles used in the incident were recovered from them.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a dispute had occurred between the two parties on 14.06.2026, leading to the registration of FIR No. 99, dated 14.06.2026, under sections 105, 115(2), 324(4), 351(2), 331(6), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS at City Police Station Dhuri. Driven by the enmity of this old dispute, the aforementioned accused executed this crime. The accused are currently on remand, and in-depth interrogation is underway; further important revelations are expected.
