Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 28 October 2025: Under the Punjab Government's commitment to education and sports, as per the guidelines of the School Education Department, Punjab, the district level primary school games were inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal at School of Eminence Phase-3B-1 today by hoisting the flag.
District Education Officer (Elementary) Darshanjit Singh welcomed the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal. On this occasion, the games were inaugurated by releasing balloons after lighting the lamp by the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said in his address, “Sports are an integral part of the overall development of children. They not only develop physical fitness, but also develop camaraderie, discipline and sportsmanship. He inspired all the players to rise above the thought of winning and losing and make sports an important part of life.”
He encouraged the children to play with passion and hone their talents to the fullest.
DEO (Elementary) Darshanjit Singh said that the entire arrangements for the games have been made very well by the team of Deputy DEO (Elementary) Parminder Kaur and District Sports Convener Baljit Singh Saneta. According to him, teams from eight blocks are participating in the games. Some athletics competitions are being organized at the District Sports Complex, Sector 78. These will last for three days.
Today, on the first day of the games, teams from Kharar-1, Derabassi-1, Kharar-2 and Kurali secured first places in various athletics events. Badminton and gymnastics competitions continued at the District Sports Complex, while shot put and chess competitions continued at the School of Eminence.
On this occasion, Principal Shalinder Singh, Pritpal Singh Tira, Manjit Singh (MD Building Material), Sandeep Singh Bedi family blessed the players and arranged refreshments.
On this occasion, BPEO Kamaljit Singh, Gurmeet Kaur, Jatin Miglani, Jasvir Kaur, Assistant Sports Convener Jagdeep Singh, Block Sports Officers of eight blocks, besides Sports Committee members Arvinder Singh Pinky, Jaswinder Singh Benipal, Sandeep Singh, Jagdev Singh, Balbir Singh, Lakhvir Singh, Guljit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Dev Karan Singh, Ravinder Pappi Sidhu, Tajinder Singh (State Awardee), Harpreet Kaur, Ashima, Rekha Khanna (State Awardee), Preeti, Komal Nanda and duty staff along with players, children, parents and teachers were present.
