Hoshiarpur:- As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is likely to start soon in the state of Punjab. Under pre-SIR activities, matching/mapping of voters of the current voter list is being done with the voter list of the year 2003. Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that there are a total of 12,68,734 voters in the district, out of which 10,65,313 (83.97 percent) voters have been mapped by BLOs.
She said that for this work, BLOs of the assembly constituencies are going door to door to verify matching/mapping with the voter list of the year 2003. The District Election Officer appealed to all the voters of the district to cooperate in this important work of the Election Commission of India and to make necessary documents and information available to the BLO during voter mapping.
He said that the voters whose names were registered in the year 2003 should provide their voting details regarding the place or booth to the current BLO so that the voter mapping work can be completed on time without any hassle. Apart from this, the District Election Officer directed all the Voter Registration Officers and Supervisors appointed in the district to inspect the voter mapping work being done by the BLO daily and ensure timely resolution of the problems faced by the BLO.
