Una, May 12: During the scrutiny process of nomination papers filed for the 17 wards of Una district under the District Council elections, the nomination papers of two candidates were rejected, while the nominations of 53 candidates were found to be valid.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that a total of 55 candidates had filed their nomination papers in the district.
During the scrutiny, the nomination papers of candidate Rozy from Ward No. 11 (Bathu) and candidate Nirmal Kaur from Ward No. 13 (Haroli)—both falling under the Haroli subdivision—were rejected because they failed to fulfill the necessary formalities regarding the prescribed eligibility documents.
He further informed that candidates will now be able to withdraw their nominations on May 14 and 15. Once the withdrawal process is complete, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates, and the final list of contesting candidates will be published.
