Una, November 12 – An important meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's office, Una, on Wednesday to discuss the possibilities of resuming mining activities in the Swan River in Una district in a scientific and planned manner. The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Una, Mahendra Pal Gurjar.
The meeting discussed in detail the possibilities of conducting a scientific survey of the Swan River, ensuring compliance with environmental guidelines, adopting a transparent auction process, and conducting mining activities in coordination with local administrative systems.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that this initiative is in line with the state government's decision to take concrete steps to control excessive sand deposits in the Swan River, increase illegal mining activities, and ensure proper channelization of the river and environmental protection.
He stated that conducting mining operations scientifically will not only help maintain the balance of the river's natural flow but will also effectively curb illegal mining. This will ensure sustainable and balanced use of local resources and increase government revenue.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to prepare a concrete action plan in this direction.
SDM Gagret Somil Gautam, SDM Bangana Sonu Goyal, District Mining Officer Neeraj Kant, Mining Inspector Pankaj Kumar and officials from various departments were present in the meeting.
