Bathinda:- An important review meeting was held in District Bathinda to assess the progress of Census 2027 Phase-1 – Houselisting and Housing Operations. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Punjab, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, Mr. Rajesh Dhiman, IAS, ADC Madam Kanchan, IAS, and Municipal Commissioner Bathinda, Madam Lavjeet Kalsi, PCS. Concerned officials, charge officers, and personnel associated with the census work participated in the meeting.
During the review, the Director assessed the progress of 2,530 enumerators and 420 supervisors engaged in census activities across the district. She appreciated the efforts made by the charge officers and field staff to effectively complete the Phase-1 census work.
Emphasizing the importance of completing all assigned tasks on time, she instructed officials to finish the remaining census activities before the second week of June 2026. She also stressed the need for close monitoring and effective coordination to achieve the targets within the stipulated timeframe.
Expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of the census work underway in Bathinda district, the Director praised the commitment and hard work of the district administration and officials involved in the census. She expressed confidence that the district would successfully complete all census-related activities as per the schedule.
The Director of Census Operations also conducted a field inspection to assess the quality of the census work. She instructed the Principal Census Officers to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality in the data collection process through continuous monitoring and regular surprise inspections.
In view of the current heatwave in the district, all enumerators and supervisors engaged in field activities were advised to take necessary precautions for their health and safety. The field staff was advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, drink plenty of water, wear light-colored and loose clothing, use a hat or umbrella while working outdoors, and take regular rest in shaded or cool places during field duty. They were also told to remain alert to heat-related symptoms such as dizziness, extreme fatigue, headache, or dehydration and to seek immediate medical assistance if needed.
Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, Mr. Rajesh Dhiman, assured that all census-related activities in District Bathinda would be completed ahead of schedule. He informed that Census 2027 Phase-1 – Houselisting and Housing Operations are being conducted in Punjab from May 15, 2026, to June 13, 2026, and the district administration is making every possible effort to make this exercise successful and complete it on time.
The district administration is fully committed to carrying out the census work effectively and collecting accurate and reliable data in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
