Chandigarh, 21 August:- Chandigarh Punjabi Manch has announced to give a huge protest dharna under the bridge at Sector 17 on 30 October. In this regard a meeting was held under leadership of Manch President Sukhjit Singh Sukkha and General Secretary Comrade Devi Dayal Sharma.
Giving information about meeting Manch leaders said that Manch every year observes 1 November as Black Day. This time also on 30 October by giving dharna under bridge resentment will be expressed against Chandigarh Administration and different political parties.
They said that Chandigarh is sitting completely silent in giving Punjabi language status of first and administrative language. Despite continuous struggles being done by Manch no effect is happening.
They said that to participate in dharna to be given on 30 October leaders of all political parties of Chandigarh will also be invited so that they come to dharna and clarify their stand towards Punjabi mother tongue.
Office bearers of Manch also said that in upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Chandigarh those who do not love Punjabi language will be opposed.
To ensure maximum participation of people in dharna, in coming days Manch will mobilize people for dharna by holding meetings in villages.
On this occasion Manch Secretary Gurpreet Singh Somal, Rural Struggle Committee Patron Baba Gurdial Singh Khudda Alisher, Cashier Sharanjit Singh Baidwan Raipur Kalan, Gurdwara Sahib Sector 7 Management Committee President Jaswinder Singh Jassal including Bhupinder Singh, Charanjit Singh Baidwan, Gurmukh Singh Saketri, Baljinder Singh Dhaliwal and Master Mohan Singh were also present.
