Garhshankar, October 5 (Hari Krishan Gangar):- Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker and Garhshankar MLA S. Jai Krishan Singh Raouri said that a placement camp and self-employment camp was successfully organised at Garhshankar. The objective of the camp was to provide employment opportunities to youth as well as the necessary information and facilities for starting self-employment.

He said that nine reputed companies from the district participated in the placement camp organised with the cooperation of the District Employment and Business Bureau-cum-Model Career Centre, Hoshiarpur. These included Quantum Paper Mill, Saila; GNA Factory, Mehtiana; D-Mart; Double Barrel Jeans; Agile Herbal; Checkmate Security; Reliance Jio; NIIT Limited (ICICI Bank); and SBI Life Insurance.

The companies interviewed candidates for various positions including helper, tailor, machine operator, sales, technician, relationship manager, wellness advisor, packer, cashier, sales associate and security guard. A total of 216 candidates participated in the camp, out of which 118 eligible candidates were shortlisted by various companies.

In addition, special facilities related to self-employment were also provided during the camp. The District Lead Bank, District Industries Centre and MSME Department participated in the camp. Representatives of these departments provided information to interested youth about various loan schemes and government facilities for starting self-employment, and eligible candidates were also registered on the spot.

Deputy Speaker S. Jai Krishan Singh Raouri said that the Punjab Government is continuously making efforts to provide maximum employment opportunities to youth. He appealed to the youth of the district to participate in future placement camps in large numbers and avail themselves of the employment and self-employment facilities being provided by the government.

District Employment Officer Smt. Ramandeep Kaur, Placement Officer Shri Rakesh Kumar, Young Professional Shri Vikram Singh, along with the entire staff of the District Employment and Business Bureau, Hoshiarpur, were present on the occasion.
