Hoshiarpur- Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today inaugurated the renovated gym at the Services Club, Hoshiarpur—an initiative managed by the District Olympic Association—which was upgraded at a cost of approximately ?30 lakhs. Speaking on the occasion, she stated that this initiative would play a pivotal role in inspiring the district's youth to engage in fitness and sports activities.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that Century Plywood provided special assistance towards the renovation of this gym. Expressing her gratitude to the company's Chairman, Padma Shri Sajjan Bhajanka, she remarked that such projects, undertaken with the support of the private sector, are instrumental in bringing about positive change within society.
She highlighted that the gym has been relaunched today with a fresh look, incorporating modern equipment and world-class facilities. Appealing to the residents of Hoshiarpur—particularly the youth—she urged them to make the fullest possible use of the gym's services and to adopt a healthy lifestyle. She further informed that high-quality fitness facilities are being made available here at very reasonable rates.
The Deputy Commissioner also announced the launch of special free fitness sessions specifically for women, aimed at encouraging a greater number of women to participate in fitness activities. She stated that this step would prove significant in advancing women's health and empowerment.
Referring to the 'War Against Drugs' campaign spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, she noted that this initiative aims to steer the youth away from substance abuse and encourage them to channel their energies into sports and fitness. She added that fitness centers such as this one serve to strengthen this ongoing campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the swimming pool located at the Services Club is also set to open on April 1st; this facility, too, has been equipped with modern amenities to ensure that the public can benefit from superior sports and fitness infrastructure. On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Oayshi Mandal, District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh, Secretary of the Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood, Joint Secretary Aditya Rana, Manager of the Services Club Raminder Singh, Century Plywood's HR Head B.S. Jaiswal, Project Head B.L. Sharma, and HR Manager Rohit Sharma, along with other dignitaries, were present.
