Una, November 6 – Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri attended the closing ceremony of the 36th Grand Prize Dangal held in Jakkhewal (Beatan) in Haroli on Thursday as the chief guest. This two-day Grand Prize Dangal (Chhinj) was organized by the Sant Baba Dhangu Wale Maharaj Ji Temple Committee. On this occasion, Mr. Agnihotri sat with thousands of people and enjoyed the Dangal competition.
This annual Dangal is considered one of the largest in North India. This year, approximately 200 renowned wrestlers from various Akharas across the country participated in it. This Dangal tradition was started by Sant Baba Dhangu Wale Maharaj Ji and is now being continued by Sant Baba Anup Ji Maharaj Ji.
Mukesh Agnihotri stated that raising awareness among youth about ancient sports is essential to elevate rural sports to new heights. He emphasized the need to foster a sports culture in villages so that youth energy can be channeled in a constructive and positive direction. He also emphasized the need to ensure proper facilities are provided to athletes. He stated that he is committed to providing all necessary facilities to rural sports talent.
On this occasion, the Dangal Committee honored the Deputy Chief Minister. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced a grant of ?5 lakh.
President of the Punjab Legislative Assembly Jai Krishna Singh Raudi, Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur, senior District Congress leaders Ranjit Rana and Ashok Thakur, District Youth Congress President Prashant Rai, representatives of local panchayats, and other dignitaries were present.
