Una, March 26: A grand three-day congregation, organized to mark the birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Singh Bedi Ji—a descendant of Guru Nanak Dev Ji—commenced on Thursday with great reverence and enthusiasm at the historic Qila Baba Bedi Sahib in Una. On this auspicious occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri made a special appearance, paid his obeisance alongside the congregation, and sought blessings.
Upon his arrival at the Qila Baba Bedi Sahib complex, the management committee and the congregation extended a warm welcome to the Deputy Chief Minister. During his visit, he met with Baba Sarvjot Singh Bedi—also a descendant of Guru Nanak Dev Ji—and sought his blessings. The two also held discussions regarding this religious event and the prosperity and well-being of the region.
Mr. Agnihotri remarked that the history associated with Baba Sahib Singh Bedi Ji is truly illustrious. He noted that Baba Sahib Singh Bedi Ji was the very eminent personality who performed the coronation ceremony of the 'Sher-e-Punjab' (Lion of Punjab), Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He added that it is a matter of great pride for the state—and for Una in particular—that the descendants of Guru Nanak Dev Ji reside on this sacred land.
It is noteworthy that Baba Sahib Singh Bedi Ji, the founder of the town of Una, continues to be revered to this day as the guardian and protector of this city. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that, through the grace and blessings of Baba Sahib Singh Bedi Ji, this region is continuously advancing on the path of progress. He further observed that such religious congregations serve to convey a message of mutual brotherhood and peace within society.
According to the organizers, this congregation—which has commenced under the supervision of Baba Sarvjot Singh Bedi—will continue for three days, with a large number of devotees from both within the country and abroad expected to attend. Meanwhile, Baba Amarjot Singh Bedi is personally overseeing all the arrangements for the event.
