Hoshiarpur- Karate athletes from District Hoshiarpur delivered a stellar performance at the Punjab State Karate Championship—organized by the Sports Karate Organization of Punjab in Khanna, District Ludhiana—bringing glory to the district by winning 8 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Sharing this information, Jagmohan Vij, General Secretary of the District Karate Association Hoshiarpur and Chief Karate Coach, stated that under the guidance of international player and team assistant coach Aarti Kumari, the team's budding karateka, Aryansh Chaitanya Juneja, secured first place in the individual Kata competition within the 6-year age category, thereby winning the first gold medal for District Hoshiarpur. In the boys' various age categories, Dhairya Kalia (11-year age group) and Aarush Sharma (13-year age group) won gold medals in their respective individual Kata competitions. Subsequently, in the girls' individual Kata competitions, Nayra Verma (9-year age group) and Parineet Kaur (12-year age group) won gold medals. Meanwhile, in the individual Kumite competitions, Onish Gupta won the first gold medal for District Hoshiarpur. Dhairya Kalia won a gold medal in the boys' 11-year age group, specifically in the weight category exceeding 45 kilograms.
In the girls' Kumite competitions, Parineet Kaur won a gold medal for District Hoshiarpur in the 12-year age group (weight category exceeding 55 kilograms) by winning all her bouts. Ryan Barpaga earned the distinction of winning two silver medals for District Hoshiarpur in both the Kata and Kumite competitions. Additionally, Prabhnoor Goswami, Krishnav Thakur, Rudrakshi Rani Sachdeva, and Sahil Thakur won silver medals. Parinoor, a member of the team, won two medals, while Nayra Verma, Krishnav Thakur, and Onish Gupta each secured a bronze medal, thereby bringing glory to District Hoshiarpur. It is noteworthy that all these athletes are receiving training from the internationally renowned coach, Shihan Jagmohan Vij, at Jagmohan's Institute of Traditional Karate.
