SAS Nagar, February 8:- Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal visited the ongoing Mohali Carnival and described the Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela as a significant platform for promoting small women entrepreneurs and encouraging self-reliance among women, especially those associated with rural Self Help Groups (SHGs). She also enjoyed the vibrant musical night along with the audience.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the mela is a key initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at providing market access and visibility to products prepared by rural women Self Help Groups, thereby strengthening their financial independence and encouraging entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
During the event, renowned Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa mesmerized visitors with his popular numbers, adding to the festive spirit of the carnival. The star cast of the upcoming Punjabi film Bambukat 2 also visited the carnival for promotional activities and interacted with the public.
ADC (Rural Development) Ms. Sonam Chaudhary, Chief Minister’s Field Officer Mr. Gurmeet Singh Sohi and DSP Mr. Ajit Pal Singh were also present on the occasion.
Visitors from across the Tricity thronged the carnival and were seen enjoying the food courts and shopping stalls, besides participating in cultural activities and musical evenings.
Deputy Commissioner said, “Mohali Carnival- Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela is a wonderful initiative that not only provide entertainment to residents but also create meaningful opportunities for small women entrepreneurs, particularly those from rural Self Help Groups, to showcase and sell their products. Such platforms strengthen local enterprise, promote self-employment and contribute to inclusive economic growth. The enthusiastic participation of people from the Tricity reflects the success of these efforts and the vibrant cultural spirit of the region,” said Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal.
