SAS Nagar, November 4: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today held an inter-departmental meeting to review the preparations for the 2nd Punjab Equestrian Festival, which will be organized from November 14 to 16, 2025, at The Meadows, Village Pallanpur (Mohali).
The Deputy Commissioner informed that this three-day mega event is being organized by the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Government of Punjab, in collaboration with the District Administration, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. The festival aims to showcase and promote Punjab’s rich equestrian heritage.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary and SDM Divya P. to supervise and finalize the overall event plan. She also announced the formation of various committees to oversee arrangements across different departments.
Calling it one of Punjab’s most distinctive celebrations, DC Mittal said that the Equestrian Festival will not only highlight the sport of horse riding but will also reflect Punjab’s vibrant culture and lifestyle, bringing together riders, enthusiasts, and breeders from across the country.
She further stated that an exhibition of horses belonging to different breeds from across India will be one of the major attractions of the festival, allowing visitors to witness the diversity and magnificence of India’s equestrian heritage up close.
Apart from equestrian competitions, a “Lifestyle Fashion Show with Horses” will also be a special feature of the event, blending modern fashion with the elegance of horsemanship.
The festival will also include shopping and food stalls, outdoor and equestrian brands, as well as Self-Help Group stalls, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere for visitors.
Considering the expected large participation of horse breeders and spectators, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for timely arrangements for veterinary services, medical support, drinking water, and security to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
She added that the festival will also showcase Punjab’s rich cultural diversity through various performances and presentations.
The meeting was attended by ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Kharar Divya P., Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr. Ankita Kansal, District Development and Panchayat Officer Dr. Parmbir Kaur, District Sports Officer Rupesh Begra, equestrian experts Deepinder Singh Brar and Harman Singh Khaira, along with officials from various departments.
