Bangana/Una, June 18: The audition process for the cultural evenings of the historic district-level Piplu Fair 2026—scheduled for June 24 to 26—commenced on Thursday at the Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra, Samoor Kalan. On the first day, approximately 50 local artists from the region showcased their talent through singing, dancing, and other performances.
Fair Committee Chairman and SDM Bangana, Sonu Goyal, stated that the auditions are being held with the aim of providing a platform for local talent and promoting the region's cultural heritage. He mentioned that the audition process would continue on June 19, and interested artists could apply on the spot. Renowned artists and winners of national-level competitions have been exempted from the audition process.
He informed that the Piplu Fair would be formally inaugurated on June 24 with a traditional procession and the flag-hoisting ceremony. During the three-day fair, cultural programs, sports competitions, performances by school students, a dog show, and developmental exhibitions by various departments will be organized. The 'Star Night' on June 26 will be the fair's main attraction, featuring performances by Himachali folk artists and Punjabi singers that are expected to captivate the audience.
Kutlehar MLA Vivek Sharma stated that the Piplu Fair is a symbol of the region's rich folk culture, religious faith, and social unity. The fair provides a powerful platform for local artists to showcase their talent and offers the younger generation an opportunity to connect with their cultural roots.
He mentioned that efforts have been made to make the fair even grander and more attractive this year. He urged people to participate in large numbers to uphold the fair's dignity and promote its cultural heritage.
