Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 25 September 2026:- The District Health Department, while sharing information with the residents of the district, said that across Punjab, only Civil Hospital Mohali and AIIMS Hospital Bathinda are vaccination centres authorised by the Government of India for protection against yellow fever. Apart from these two, no government or private hospital in Punjab is an authorised yellow fever vaccination centre of the Government of India.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Immunization Officer Dr. Girish Dogra, who is also the Yellow Fever Nodal Officer, clarified that no private hospital in Punjab has approval from the Government of India for yellow fever vaccination. Therefore, needy persons should not get this vaccination done at private hospitals. They said that the vaccine is administered at Civil Hospital Mohali every Monday, Tuesday and Friday. It is pertinent to mention that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into some countries.
Health officials said that persons coming to Civil Hospital Mohali for yellow fever vaccination should bring their original passport and the required documents. They said that yellow fever vaccination should be taken approximately two weeks before the date of travel. They appealed to travellers to complete the vaccination-related requirements at the appropriate time instead of waiting until the last moment.
Yellow fever is a viral disease spread by mosquitoes and can also be fatal if not properly treated.
