Lehragaga, July 4:- Under the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme of the Punjab Government, Cabinet Minister Advocate Barinder Goyal and his son Advocate Gaurav Goyal today flagged off buses loaded with devotees from villages Alampur, Alisher and Gurne Kalan of Lehragaga constituency for visiting various religious places.
On this occasion, people in various villages warmly welcomed the Cabinet Minister and appreciated the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme being run by the Punjab Government. The elders said that through this scheme they are getting an opportunity to visit major religious places without any financial burden.
Talking to the pilgrims going on the pilgrimage, Cabinet Minister Advocate Barinder Goyal said that the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme of the Punjab Government is a free religious pilgrimage scheme, the aim of which is to make the people of Punjab, especially senior citizens of 50 years of age or above, visit the major religious places of the country. He said that this scheme was started in the year 2023 and later its scope was further expanded.
He said that under this scheme, equal opportunities are given to people of every religion and every class without any discrimination. Even economically weaker people are taking advantage of this scheme and visiting religious places. He said that the main objective of the scheme is to promote the common religious and cultural heritage of the state and keep people connected with their religion and culture.
Minister Goyal said that the entire cost of the journey is borne by the Punjab Government. AC buses, accommodation, food and basic medical facilities are also provided free of cost to the passengers.
Talking to reporters, Advocate Barinder Goyal said that the Punjab government is working to connect people with religion and culture. He alleged that the opposition parties want to divide people in the name of religion and caste and gain political benefits. He said that the people of Punjab are seeing everything and if the opposition parties cannot maintain unity within themselves, they cannot develop the state either. He claimed that in the 2027 assembly elections, people will again express faith in the policies of the Punjab government. On this occasion, Buta Singh Sarpanch Alampur, Manjit Singh, Jaggi Singh, Kaka Singh Alisher, Javeen Kumar, Babbu Sarpanch Gurne Kalan, former president of the truck union Darbara Singh Happy, Rattan Sharma, youth leader Ajay Kumar Tholi, Megh Raj, Praveen Kumar Tinka, OSD Rakesh Kumar Gupta along with a large number of party leaders, volunteers and residents of the area were present.
