Chandigarh:- Suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar has filed an application in the CBI court seeking directions to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to unfreeze 10 bank accounts belonging to his father and daughter, acting on which the court has issued a notice to the CBI and asked it to file its reply by February 6.
Bhullar alleged in the court that the CBI had frozen these accounts without taking the necessary prior permission from the court during the investigation of a ‘trap case’, which he has termed as a completely illegal and arbitrary action.
The accused’s lawyer SPS Bhullar argued in the court that the CBI had filed a challan against Bhullar and co-accused Krishna Sharda on December 3, 2025, but these bank accounts were not part of that challan and neither were they required for any proceedings in the trap case.
He also pointed out that there was no legal basis on record to clarify under which legal section these accounts were frozen. The lawyer further explained that these accounts belong to Bhullar’s ??father and daughter who have nothing to do with the alleged crime;
He clarified that Bhullar’s ??father, who is an army veteran and former DGP of Punjab and is currently around 80 years old, is retired from his public service and is operating these accounts through his pension and independent income from agriculture.
