Karnal, December 6: Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan has called upon the people to follow the path shown by Baba Saheb. By becoming educated and dutiful, youth should contribute to the progress of themselves and their families, as well as the nation. They should perform their duties with honesty and integrity.
Mr. Kalyan was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized by the Ambedkar Samaj Kalyan Sabha on the death anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Ambedkar Bhawan in Sector 16 today. He earlier paid tribute to Baba Saheb's portrait.
The function was presided over by State Secretary of the Red Cross Society, Sunil Kumar. Sabha President Amar Singh greeted the guests and provided information about the activities conducted by the Sabha. The chief guest and the program chairman were presented with mementos by the Sabha.
The Assembly Speaker said that Baba Saheb dedicated his entire life to the poor, the exploited, the backward, and the deprived. After independence, drafting a constitution for a diverse country was a challenge. Under Baba Saheb's leadership, the country received a constitution that continues to progress.
He said that by establishing a pilgrimage site in Baba Saheb's name, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accomplished a commendable feat, inspiring everyone. The country was divided into princely states, numerous dialects, diverse food habits, and customs. The process of drafting the constitution lasted three years. Baba Saheb was appointed chairman of the drafting committee.
He studied the constitutions of many countries in depth and considered thousands of suggestions received from the public. Baba Saheb was a highly regarded scholar. He believed in the saying, "Knowledge is power." To awaken the Dalits and the oppressed, he gave the slogan, "Educate, Organize, and Fight," which every citizen must embrace for the progress and strength of society and the nation.
Mr. Kalyan said that today, there is a need to inculcate good values ??in the youth. They will have to know the difference between good and bad, right and wrong and those in high positions will have to always remain sensitive towards the weak, needy and poor.
Referring to global challenges, he said that today drug addiction is increasing in the society and at the same time, environmental challenges are also being faced. Therefore, there is a need to protect the youth from drug addiction by making them aware and capable. He expressed hope that in future also Ambedkar Samaj Kalyan will continue to work for the benefit of all the society and the nation.
On this occasion, apart from the President of the Sabha, Amar Singh, Bhup Singh and Professor Ramji Lal participated as special guests. The stage was conducted by former DPRO Harnam Das.
